Banstead Charity Walk 2017

We are inviting you to join us on our Charity Walk 2017 over a route of about 7.8 miles. This should be manageable by parents and children alike. The event is taking place on Sunday 7th May 2017 starting between 8.30 and 10.00 am. The walk will take you attractive North Downs scenery and starts and finishes at Tattenham Corner on Epsom Downs. There is a halfway checkpoint providing some refreshment and Marshals monitor all road crossings.

This event has proved to be an enjoyable and fun day out in past years and all funds raised are donated to charity. The Rotary Club of Banstead will donate all monies raised to various local and national charities on your behalf or you may elect to have 75% donated to your chosen charity or institution. (This might be your school, scout group, church etc).

You can enter a team (there is no limit on size). Individuals and teams raising the most money will receive prize plaques and the best team overall will be awarded the Young’s Brewery Silver Salver.

The Rotary Club of Banstead aim to help you to raise much needed funds for charity and at the same time have a very pleasant morning out in beautiful surroundings with friends and family. The walk should take about 4 hours or less to complete.

Help delivering flyers required

One of our local businesses, a cleaning firm called ‘Bright & Beautiful Banstead’ is looking for somne help with leafleting in the local area.

“I’m looking for some help with leafleting in Banstead, Tadworth, Walton the Hilll and Kingswood and wondered whether anybody had any recommendations for individuals who do this. I would ideally like to avoid using a company if possible; a friend of mine uses a retired postman who does this in another area, so something similar to that set-up would be ideal. Thanks for any help in advance!”

Major Event a Huge Success

On the 1st December the Banstead Business Guild arranged the second Christmas Shopping event which was a roaring success.  In 2015 there was a very small affair arranged by the Guild which involved a small ceremony, turning the lights at the top roundabout near Zizzi’s, along with some carol singing and an appearance by Santa Clause on his sleigh.  The event was very low key as the Guild had only been in operation for a couple of months.

The 2016 event was much bigger and much better, with a raft of celebrities, acts, schools, community groups, retailers, local councillors and others helping to make it a massive success.  There was a tremendous footfall throughout the night up and down the entire High Street, with most of the retailers getting in the spirit and laying on food and drinks for the passing trade as well as a booklet with great offers on the night.  Many retailers were reporting they had never seen their shops so busy.

Local resident and business man Jovan Mari? from Square Daisy said:

“As a resident of Banstead, there is nothing I want to see more than a thriving High Street and businesses across the village doing really well.  The event that was put on by the guild was absolutely fantastic, bringing together all of the key stakeholders to each make it a memorable night.  From the Business Guild’s perspective it is about how we can help the businesses, but I think what we saw was how local businesses can play a central role in bringing together all elements of the community to put on a really great event that everyone can enjoy”.

A huge thanks must go out to Michell at ‘The Natural Way;’ in Banstead who was the project lead and really made the event as successful as it was. Thanks to everyone who took part and contributed to make it a memorable evening and one that we’ll hope to better in 2017.

We have added some photos from the evening below to see just how great it was.
